From a young age Sumac has felt pulled by a strong connection to wild beings. In her art Sumac strives to draw the viewer in to experience their own personal connection with her subjects.

Sumac lives in the Mount Washington Valley and spends as much time as possible in the woods and hiking the trails in the White Mountain National Forest, Baxter State Park and Acadia National Park.

Sumac began art classes as a child and continued her art education, majoring in art in high school and then attending Montserrat School of Visual Art.
